This montage is based on a popular TV series called American Horror Story. I think it's a pretty cool montage. Perfect for Halloween time. Made by SuperGymmie

2013 Mexico Gala de Estrellas de las Gimnasias
There was a recent Gala in Mexico with Ksenia Afanasyeva, Sandra Izbasa and others. Sandra Izbasa was the big star of this promotion so I had no idea that Afan was in Mexico. I think many fans didn't know about this recent gala. I only knew about it this week. I'm growing to like Izbasa's floor routine. Here are some videos recorded by NanSz21

New 2013 WAG Elements
The FIG has posted up the new WAG elements that were performed in Antwerp worlds championships. There were 7 new elements but only 4 gymnasts were given skills named after them because the difficulty was D or higher. Victoria Moors broke the code by adding a new letter to the code. The new letter difficulty is "I"!
Full List of New Skills

Nice Tuck Stand Turn Gifs Into Low Beam Choreography Ideas
I'm not a fan of the tuck stand turn on one leg but these gifs shows how nice they can look when a gymnast have creative choreo ideas. These turns can be called wolf turns as well. There are gymnasts that have these turns named after them.
First gif is Madeline Gardiner and 2nd gif is Chelsea Tang

Tan Jiaxin 2013 East Asian Games UB Gold Routine
I think this routine is interesting and exciting. The new rule change is forcing China to do the bigger exciting release skills. I think no matter how much the FIG changes the uneven bars code the Chinese will always find a way to be the top competitors. Personally, I always enjoy Chinese bar routines no matter the style.
Hindorff + Pak (E+D) 0.2CV
Maloney + Gienger (D+D) 0.2CV
Giant 1/2 (B)
Healy + Jaeger (E+D) 0.1CV
DLO (D)
3.2 + 0.5CV = 3.7 + 2.5CR = 6.2
Tan scored 6.2 + 8.550 = 14.750. She can actually do a harder routine like this one at 2013 Doha Cup.

CoP - Tip of The Month
On uneven bars D+D both flight elements on the same bar can receive 0.2 connection value.
I was checking the CoP and it seems I can't find the D+D both flight element for 0.2. I know the code states D+D or more is 0.1 but those are for skills such as Stalder 1/1 + Tkatchev, inbar 1/2 + Jaeger etc.
The D+E both flight elements is in the code. Usually you'll see those skills be used as Piked Tkatchev + Pak or most recently Mustafina's Seitz + Pak.
D+D 0.2CV examples: Markelov + Gienger (e.g Tweddle) or Tkatchev + Gienger (e.g Shang)

Worlds 2013 WAG Floor Results
Full Results
1) Simone Biles USA (6.5) 15.000
I like her routine for the difficulty. Her DLO 1/2 out is impressive, now named the Biles :) Her opening pass dbl dbl tuck had huge bounce back and ending dismount had hop back. This was not her best floor routine but considering how much she performed this week I would say it's still an impressive routine. 6.5 very high difficulty.
2) Vanessa Ferrari ITA (6.2) 14.633
She had hop fwd on her dbl dbl tuck but everything else looked good enough. She finally gets a medal on floor. She is really good at sticking her tumbles.
3) Larisa Iordache ROU (6.1) 14.600
I never thought I would say this but I enjoyed this routine the most. She has improved on her artistry. I think the music was awesome for her. My favourite part of her choreography was when she dances and then goes low to the floor for choreo. Also her ending pose reminds me of Afan's Kill Bill ending pose :) very similar.
Other highlights - Mai Murakami did good I like her stuck DLO. I was hoping Sandra Izbasa could hit her routine and maybe beat Biles, which was possible. Sadly she had a very wonky stag jump after her 3/1 twists and she went all out by adding 1/1 twist to her dismount combo but fell :( I'm still not sure what the status is with Izbasa. Will she retire or not? I hope not but if she does she has achieved a lot in this sport and she can leave with happy memories. She always looks positive after her mistakes, she still smiled and I like seeing that.
This final had 4 girls doing the dbl dbl tuck! Steingruber did 1/1 DLO. The difficulty of this final was high.

Worlds 2013 WAG Beam Results & Inquiries

1) Aliya Mustafina (6.0) 14.900
Woohoo :D She finally wins a gold medal. An interesting tidbit is that she has now got medals in every single event at a world level. Beam was the only medal that she was missing and how nice that it's a gold medal. This was a well deserved gold medal. It was cute watching her calculate her d-score when she was not happy about the difficulty that the judges gave her. IMHO I see nothing wrong with her routine. She connects everything (well not what she intended) here is my breakdown
Wolf + Sissone + Side-somi (D) 0.1CV
Onodi + Switch 1/2 (D+D) 0.2CV
2/1 Spin (D)
FWD Aerial + FF (D)
Switch Ring (E)
Aerial cartwheel (D)
Dbl Tuck (D)
3.3 + 0.3CV= 3.6 + 2.5CR = 6.1 D-score. She lost 0.1 somewhere. I personally think her connections were connected so I don't think it's there. I'm betting its her switch ring that was downgraded. Sometimes her free leg doesn't hit 45 degrees so downgrade one DV or maybe it's the back ring leg? I'm not sure though and these judges know what they are doing. If anyone knows why she lost 0.1 please leave a comment.
2) Kyla Ross (6.0) 14.833
She had a good routine although she is all stop think then do skill, it's very distracting. Her hands are very distracting in a bad way too. Gymnastics wise she is very precise and that is what I like about her. She also filed an inquiry. Let me see what happened.
Switch Ring (E)

Leap series
Front Aerial + Sheep (D+D) 0.2CV
Side-somi (D)
Switch leap + tuck (C) 0.1CV
Aerial cartwheel (D)
Front tuck + wolf (D) 0.1CV
Dbl tuck (D)
3.2 + 0.4 = 3.6 + 2.5 = 6.1 Difficulty. She was initially credit with 5.9, so she lost 2 tenths somewhere. Her inquiry was accepted and she got only 6.0. What I don't get is what the judges did. I can see that if she originally got 5.9 then she lost 0.2 for the front aerial + Sheep. It was slow IMO. But her other connections were spot on. So mathematically 6.0 makes no sense. Unless she was given front aerial + sheep but not another connection. I'm stuck on this one.
3) Simone Biles (6.1) 14.333
And then there's Simone Biles. Not a fan of her beam routine except for the dismount. She also had an inquiry. She originally got 5.9 difficulty but gained back two tenths from the accepted inquiry. I couldn't find a video of her single routine but this video is interesting.

Worlds 2013 MAG Day 2 Event Final Results
VT - Full Results
1) Yang Hak Seon KOR 15.533 AVG
He upped back his difficulty on his first vault. In prelims he only FHS 5/2. Today he did his Yang, the FHS 3/1. It was a very clean vault with a small step forward, 15.733. On his second vault he only went for Kas 2/1. Big hop back but still a very clean vault with nice leg form, 15.333. He submitted the Kas 5/2 for this championships but never did it. Maybe next year he will be more prepared. So happy he won.
2) Steven Legendre USA 15.249 AVG
First vault was a Dragulescu, very deep landing but still good vault 15.266. Second vault was Tsuk dbl pike. It was done well, 15.233 better execution than his first vault.
3) Kristian Thomas GBR 15.233 AVG
His first vault was really good. He stuck a very nice Yurchenko dbl pike for 15.500. His second vault was less difficult and it was okay. FHS tuck 2/1 and he hopped back, 14.966.
Oh and Kenzo Shirai did his 3/1 Yurchenko! Crazy how he can do it. He pre-twist slightly but still amazing. I think the vault is named the Shirai-Kim since Hee Hoon Kim also successfully did it.

3) John Orozco USA (6.8) 15.533
This finals was weird because some guys had major errors. Tsolakidis basically gave up and didn't do a dismount. I liked the Chinese. You Hao was good but had an error. He had the highest difficulty today. It's weird that at this championships gymnasts can tie. I don't understand the rules for ties. Actually I do get it but some years gymnasts don't share ties so it's weird. It needs to be consistent. Kohei upped his difficulty by 3 tenths for this final, I like his execution.

1) Epke Zonderland (7.7) 16.000
2) Fabian Hambuchen (7.4) 15.933
3) Kohei Uchumura (6.9) 15.633
I'm cool with these results. Epke may not be the cleanest guy but his routine is exciting. He has a crazy 7.7 difficulty that helps him win over guys who have clean execution. Fabian did well. I wanted him to win but he was down on difficulty and execution. I think maybe if he had stuck his dismount he would have won. Kohei had a very clean and nice routine except for a near big mistake. During one of his pirouette he almost lost strength and maybe had to take an extra swing but he went right into his Yamawaki.

VT - Full Results
1) McKayla Maroney USA 15.724 AVG
2) Simone Biles USA 15.595 AVG
3) Hong un Jong PKR 15.483 AVG
Highlights- Giulia Steingruber was so good. She stuck her FHS 1.5. I think maybe that was the best she had ever done. Her DTY was not too shabby. I kind of wished she could of medaled 3rd but Hong had the difficulty. I was not impressed by Hong she is so dirty in her execution, blah. Obviously the big highlight would be the incredible Americans. They are masters at Amanars. Biles ro-1/2 fwd-1/2 twist is beautiful.

1) Huang Huidan CHN (6.6) 15.400
I am absolutely happy for Huang Huidan. I have been a fan of her bar routine for a long time. She was off my radar because I wasn't sure about her consistency but she nailed her routine today. I love her beautiful work with the stalder shaposh's. Very elegant on bars. This is one of my favourite moments of the championships :)
2) Kyla Ross USA (6.4) 15.266
What can I say she is beautiful on bars. She had some flexed feet and leg form issues but she is still nice to watch on bars. Love her inbar stalder work. Nice stuck DLO dismount.
3) Aliya Mustafina (6.5) 15.033
It wasn't meant to be Mustafina's day today. She lost valuable tenths (0.2) by not connecting the Pak to Shap 1/2. She only did 6.5 routine. She had some execution errors with leg and tap form. Still, she is very elegant and beautiful on bars. Well deserved bronze medal.
-Other highlights. Downie was very good on bars until she messed up and fell on a toe element trying to go forward. Germany's Scheder had a nice look to her routine. I haven't paid much attention to Scheder this championships but her inbar stalder work were very nice and beautiful. Poor Yao fell on her Mo salto element. I give her props for doing such a difficult skill. It's crazy that she still got a decent score. Yao's difficulty is just amazing for this new quad.

1) Kenzo Shirai JPN (7.4) 16.000
What can I say he is a twisting machine. Very awesome routine. I love his hard twisting combos and the quad. This guy has some major endurance power.
2) Jake Dalton USA (6.7) 15.600
I enjoyed his routine. He does lots of nice double saltos which is a nice change from the twisting fest. He rivals Kohei's 3/1. Dalton stuck a very nice 3/1. I also liked Legendre's routine but he had way too many hops on his landings.
3) Kohei Uchimura JPN (6.4) 15.500 Best execution 9.1
Best execution 9.1. I love how clean Kohei is. He's very precise and beautiful to watch. The 3/1 twists was beautiful and stuck.

Highlights - What a thrilling event finals to watch. I was not expecting Kameyama to win. He is very good on pommels. He is clean and has nice lines. Zhang Hongtao was my favourite for execution. He is really clean too bad about his difficultly but it's still a hard routine to do.

WAG 2013 Worlds AA Results - Simone Biles USA Wins
AA Award Ceremony
FULL RESULTS
1. Simone Biles USA 60.216
Highlight for me would be her vault and floor. Her beam could be better. She got through bars and had the second highest E- score 8.600. Overall she did a very good job, well done.
2. Kyla Ross USA 59.332
She was my favourite today. Low difficulty but very good execution. It's proof that this strategy can work. It's sad because I could see Anastasia Grishina having this kind of strategy, come on Russia are you paying attention? It's sad the Russians insists Grishina do higher difficulty. Ross had the highest E-scores of the competition with the exception of FX (Biles was higher) VT9.566 UB8.700 BB8.633 FX8.633. She won the Longines elegance prize too :) Oh and Kohei won it again. Would have been better if someone else won it besides Kohei, maybe his teammate Kato should have won it.
3. Aliya Mustafina RUS 58.856
The Americans were too strong for Mustafina to challenge them but she put up a good fight. Her DTY is good but could be better. She brought back her full 6.7 bar routine. On floor she did good. She did two whips indirect to Arabian + stag, cool. I'm happy she got to medal.
Other highlights-
The Chinese failed on beam. Yao and Shang both fell off beam. Yao did the Mo Salto though!
Larisa Iordache started off good but then on her best event she fell off beam. She is my pick for BB EF gold. She came back on floor with a nice routine.
