Throwback Thursday || Kohei Uchimura's 2009 HB EF

Clean and beautiful routine. It's always nice to appreciate Kohei for routines like this. It's also nice to see how much difficulty he keeps adding each year yet still be able to have clean gymnastics. This was one of his easier routine and he didn't medal but I like his work.

Double Throwback Thursday

In the wake of Ross's and Maroney's retirement here are some of their routines that I liked. Admittedly these routines don't feel like 4 years ago to me. Time has really gone by.

Just Because...All Kohei Uchimura 2014 World Championship Routines

I think the only person that can cause an upset to Uchimura is Verniaiev and possibly Whitlock. We haven't seen much of Whitlock but he'll start to compete more in the next coming months. Then there are his own teammates like Kato and Tanaka. Kato recently had a mishap at a college meet but hopefully it's nothing serious and he can resume normal training. Either than that I don't think guys like Mikulak can even make top 3. Well anything can happen but he'll have to over come other guys before even getting close to 1st.

   

Just Because...Deng Linlin 2011 Chinese National BB

Deng's layout on beam is one of the best in the world. It's high, powerful, straight and exciting. Here is when she did layout 1/1 and trying to connect to Korbut flip. I believe she first tried this in 2010.

 

Just Because...Larisa Iordache's Nanning 2014 TF BB

It's been awhile since we've seen Iordache compete. I'm interested in seeing what she will show this year.

Here is Afanasyeva's wonderful routine if you can overlook the awkwardness of the gogean leap :P.

And Yang's Gold winning vaults. Hopefully we get to see the Yang (FHS 3/1) as he's not been doing his namesake vault for awhile since he's been battling injuries. I hope he can compete his vault again one day. Also he might plan to compete the Kas 5/2. He's been the first known gymnast to successfully compete it. He's been trying to get it named after himself for awhile now.

Ksenia Afanasyeva's Oscar Win :P

Well not really but recently at Round Lake some of the gymnasts played a guessing game. Afanasyeva was the winner and her prize was an Oscar statuette :p. Video of the gymnasts playing the guessing game.

Kenzo Shirai's Triple Twisting Double Layout Gif

My friend frangymnasticsfan made this gif of Shirai doing a 3/1 twisting DLO. Shirai is amazing. It's impressive that its on a real competition floor. Here's to hoping we'll get to see it in the new year of 2015. This is an exciting acrobatic skill. Get it Kenzo.

I like this routine. Especially the Tak 1/2 + Liukin combo.

Erika Fasana FX EF || Nanning 2014

This was quite a good routine. I like how she is powerful and interesting. At first I wasn't sure about the music but now I think it's unique and different. There's a bit of creativity in her routine and music choice. I like how her straddle full jump synced with the music.

Just Because

Aliya Mustafina's 3/1 Y-Spin + 2/1 turn. Lovely difficult combo. I hope she gets the 3/1-Y named after her in Nanning.
