Team Japan MAG Wins Rio 2016 Olympics

It was a thrilling and intense competition. I am very happy Team Japan won since 2004 Athens. They have been wanting this for so long. Of course all teams dream of winning gold and Russia was close to winning. They were amazing yesterday too. They hit all their routines and did the best they have ever did. And after 16 years later they made the podium again with a new team for silver medal. In honesty I never thought Russia would have medal so it was exciting to see. China was able to win bronze. As of late they have not been doing the best but if they have not made some costly errors they could have been close or maybe won. But China has been lacking consistency and difficulty in some apparatus during this quad. It'll be interesting to see how they develop their program for the future. I'm happy China was able to medal. I'm happy about this whole finals.

You Hao & Fan Yilin Documentary

It's a documentary on You Hao and Fan Yilin. There are English subtitles. They were the only Chinese gymnasts to win gold in 2015 world championships. I found this documentary good for the You Hao part. There's not many fans and news about China's MAG. It's good to get to know things about their team. And it's especially good that I got to know more things about You Hao. It's something worth watching since this time of the season is slow gymnastic news.

I'm happy You Hao came in to win this finals. Depending on your style preference for pbars I think this is the type of exciting pbar routines that should win. I'm seeing him make China's Rio team.

Then there is Fan Yilin. I love her bar routine. It's elegant and pretty. At first seeing this routine for the first time I thought she struggled and had a dead hang after her geinger release skill but no she did good.

2015 Asian Gymnastic Championships || News Link & Videos

Here are some links to great resources of news and videos from 2015 Asian Gymnastics Championships. It's not easy to find English news of Japanese gymnastics. I like these sites ryohei-kato and peggyswonderland. I know its tumblr but these sites helped me be up to date and once you get the hang of tumblr it's fun and easy.  

Here's Wang Yan's winning floor routine. I like the 3/2 indirect to 3/1 + front punch and of course the tuck dbl dbl at the beginning.

Here's Shirai's  winning floor routine. The triple double tuck always gets me. It's amazing to be honest and for whatever reasons I like the endo roll to handstand. He may only have one double salto but his routine is still exciting. Those twisting combinations are no walk in the park. I'm still dreaming the day he puts in the triple dbl layout that he's been seen doing. Now that would be on whole new level of amazing.

     

Mao Yi Team/Qualification FX - 2015 Chinese Nationals (D-score)

This routine is popular around the gymnastics community. Mao is a very good twister. Very hard first pass 7/2 (3.5) + tuck front.

MAG Day 1 Qualification Results || Nanning 2014

Thanks to USA Gymnastics Youtube I was able to watch China's and Great Britain's subdivisions live. Although I had to use a USA IP. They are already uploading China's and Great Britain's videos to youtube. I can view this one without proxy change.

China did okay in my opinion. Not their best day but I feel they will be ready for team finals. I feel Great Britain can do better too. China still leads after the first day of qualifications. Team results after day 1

AA results were tight and interesting. Everyone is close to each other and they can all do better in AA finals. Most of the guys had some small mishaps. AA finals should be really interesting. I can't wait to see Uchimura! I think I was most surprised that Cheng Ran got 89.631. I didn't know much about him. Verniaiev is close to the top but I heard he fell on an event (PH)? His subdivision was not live. I hope he stays consistent. AA results after day 1   

I can't comment much on other events since there were no live coverage. Yang Hak Seon only did two 6.0 vaults. He didn't try his Kas 5/2. I guess he is playing safe. He has a bit of a hamstring injury. Vault finals will still be interesting. Results after day 1

I won't be able to blog much about day 2. I'll be busy Saturday but at least I can still watch it live!

I haven't been updating here lately so here is something. The Chinese MAG team for worlds are Zhang Chenglong, Deng Shudi, Lin Chaopan, Cheng Ran, You Hao and Liu Yang.

Alternates are Liu Rongbing and Zou Kai.

Say what? Let me work out his difficulty. Excuse me if I get anything wrong since I'm rusty with the MAG code.

Just Because...Wu Liufang's Yang Bo Jump

Here is a beautiful picture of Wu Liufang's Yang Bo Jump. I had this post in my draft for a long time and didn't know why I didn't post it sooner.

The Yang Bo is a very difficult jump that is rated four tenths (D). Recently I haven't seen many gymnasts perform this jump. I wish more gymnasts would perform it but the requirements for this jump is difficult for most gymnasts to achieve. I think Wu Liufang's is textbook perfect. According to the the CoP the requirements are, "body arched, head dropped bwd & over split with front leg min at horizontal". Just a slight mistake would make this skill be credit one tenth lower.  

Here is a video of Wu Liufang's beam from 2011 Osijek world cup. The Yang Bo jump is the second element that she does. If you pause it at the right moment you will get a beautiful over split jump.

The Lou Yun

After seeing John Orozco's Lou Yun 1/2 it got me remembering the badassery of Makoto Okiguchi's Lou Yun + Punch front 1-3/4. Awesome combo. Too bad that combo is not allowed anymore.

 Here is Orozco's Lou Yun 1/2. I wouldn't be surprised if they kept it at E. Personally I'm not a complete fan of the way Orozco does it but it's pretty badass.

Tan Jiaxin 2013 East Asian Games UB Gold Routine

I think this routine is interesting and exciting. The new rule change is forcing China to do the bigger exciting release skills. I think no matter how much the FIG changes the uneven bars code the Chinese will always find a way to be the top competitors. Personally, I always enjoy Chinese bar routines no matter the style.

I think the scores were inflated but you can never count China out. I don't think he can win AA gold in Antwerp but if he has a very good day he might be able to medal.

2013 Chinese Nationals MAG Routines

Gah how is it that I have never heard of piibuninaMAG when I have been following his other account? Oh well I'm happy that I am finally able to watch some Chinese MAG national routines thanks to piibunina :).

Zhou Shixiong PB AA - 7.0 + 8.967 = 15.967. I think Shixiong now has the highest pbar d-score of this year.

Sui Lu's 2013 BB & FX Chinese Nationals

Thanks to piibunina for uploading better home made videos. Sui looks in good shape and form. I hope she can fight for a spot on the Chinese worlds team in Antwerp. I know that she said she will retire but hopefully she will change her mind.
